I came across a songwriting contest looking for the best “front porch” songs. I thought that sounded like a fun challenge, so I decided to write one. I never actually entered the contest, but I ended up with a song I really liked.

I started thinking about how much life can happen in one ordinary place. A front porch swing might be where you cool off after an argument, have a heart-to-heart conversation, comfort a neighbor, or simply sit beside someone you love and watch the world go by.

I imagined a couple who had spent years together on that same porch swing. They'd experienced love, loss, laughter, and all the ups and downs of life, with the porch becoming a quiet witness to it all.

“Front Porch” is about those ordinary places that become extraordinary because of the memories we make there. Sometimes the best moments in life happen when we're doing nothing more than sitting still and counting our blessings.
