“Swept Away” came about after my husband and I had our first real fight. I'll admit, most of it was my fault. We'd both said enough, and I knew that adding more words to the conversation probably wasn't going to make things any better. So, being a songwriter, I did the next logical thing. I wrote him an apology song.
As I started writing, I thought about how easily two people who love each other can get caught up in an argument and lose sight of what really matters. Sometimes it's not about who's right or wrong. It's about finding your way back to each other.
I wanted him to know that no matter what storms come our way, I'd rather build a boat and weather them together than let what we have get swept away.
