I wrote “Heaven Isn't Heaven” after thinking about something that weighed heavily on my heart. What if I get to heaven, surrounded by unimaginable beauty, standing in the presence of God and reunited with those I've lost, only to realize that someone I love isn't there?
Would I feel their absence? Would I wonder where they were? Could heaven still feel like heaven knowing someone I loved so deeply was missing?
While this song was inspired by my love for my son, its message goes far beyond a mother's heart. It's for anyone who has ever thought about leaving this world behind and wondered about the people left behind.
It's not about questioning the beauty of heaven. It's about loving someone so deeply that even the thought of eternity without them is hard to imagine.
