I wrote “Hummingbird” for a friend who had lost her mom. She told me that whenever she saw a hummingbird, she felt like it was her mom stopping by to say hello. I thought that was such a beautiful way to feel connected to someone you love and miss so much. I wanted to capture that feeling in a song—the heartbreak of losing someone, but also the comfort of finding little reminders that they're still close. Sometimes something as small as a hummingbird can bring a whole lot of love and comfort.
